News & Information Ecosystem

Rachel Hubbard is the executive director at KOSU, serving Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Stillwater, Oklahoma. She grew up in Washita County and started her radio career at age 16 reading the obituaries for KTJS in Hobart. Then, she stumbled into public radio in college after deciding that shredding paper wasn't a path to any job she really wanted. Rachel rose through the ranks at KOSU and has done a little bit of every job at the station except engineering. Along the way, she's done some pretty decent journalism and a lot of collaboration. The most recent was a collaboration with WNYC Studios and HISTORY Channel. Blindspot: Tulsa Burning won a duPont-Columbia award and was a finalist for a Peabody Award. In 2024, Rachel became the first Oklahoman elected to the NPR Board of Directors. Rachel is married to a great guy who supports all her crazy ideas. They live in Oklahoma County with their three sons, a small apiary and a biting donkey.
