Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletics

Grant Gower is the Assistant Director at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) as the Director of Officials. He oversees all the officials for 7th-12th grade athletics in Oklahoma, and in particular officials in football, basketball, and baseball. Mr. Gower has been with the OSSAA for 5 years in his current position and just completed his 40th year as an educator in Oklahoma.

Mr. Gower was a Teacher, Coach, Principal, and/or an Athletic Director for 35 years before coming to the OSSAA. Prior to joining the OSSAA in 2019, Gower was the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach at Oklahoma Baptist University for 3 years. Before moving into the College Coaching ranks, he was the Head Football Coach at Deer Creek High School in Edmond amassing a 57-32 record during his time with the Antlers. He also Coached and was Athletic Director at Tecumseh Public Schools, and coached at Putnam City West, Perry, and Olive during his career as a Football and Baseball Coach.

As a teacher, he taught Algebra and United States History, and was selected as Teacher of the Year at Deer Creek High School. He also officiated Basketball for 24 years, with 16 years calling at the collegiate level, which helped to provide the expertise to oversee officials and work with coaches, athletic directors, and superintendents.

Mr. Gower earned his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University. Paula, his wife of 38 years, is the Vice President for Marketing and Communications at Oklahoma Baptist University and they have three children and three grandchildren.
