Appointed in October 2011, Charles Lamb’s most recent community service is serving as Edmond’s Mayor.  He has 20 years elected service to Edmond, first as a Council Member and now Mayor and recently re-elected in 2017. His focus is to continue working as a member of the City Council to maintain the commitment to Edmond’s quality of life and it’s progressive momentum into the future.

From 1996 to 1998, Charles chaired the Tomorrow's Edmond Steering and Implementation Committees. The abstract/action plan included the ideas of more than 210 citizens as to what they wanted to see in Edmond's future in areas such as residential and business growth, education, civic participation and environment. One of Charles's continuing goals as a member of the Council is to work on fulfilling the visions of Tomorrow's Edmond.

Charles is a graduate of the Leadership Edmond Class II in 1986, and a past president (1993) of the Edmond Chamber of Commerce. His current memberships include the Edmond Rotary Club (past President).  

Board member since 1993 to the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority and Chairman since 2001.  2003 Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma Ray Duffy Personal Service Award for outstanding career contributions to public power systems in Oklahoma. 2013 MESO Ray Duffy Personal Service Award Second recognition. The OMPA Charles D. Lamb Energy Center was dedicated in 2015. In 2017 he received the Spence Vanderlinden Public Official Award at the American Public Power Association’s National Conference.

In September 2006 he was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for City and Town Officials.  In 1999 Charles was named Edmond Citizen of the Year. He received the Edmond Chamber Community Spirit Award in 1998. In 2010 he was inducted into the Edmond Hall of Fame.  In 2013 inducted into the Edmond’s First Bulldog Hall of Fame. In 2016 inducted into the Edmond Public Schools Foundation Hall of Fame.

Charles has a master's degree in Urban Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma and has been recognized as a UCO Distinguished Former Student Honoree for Community Service.

The 58-year resident of Edmond has 17 years of experience as a housing consultant, and over 11 years experience with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  He has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1968 (currently inactive) and was a partner in the Chelsea Station residential project.
